If you have ever fallen in love with a watch strap only to find out it does not fit your Casio, this post is for you.
The fix is simpler than you think. It is called a watch adapter. It costs $15.99, it installs in a few minutes with a basic spring bar tool, and it completely changes what you can do with your Casio.
Here is everything you need to know.
What Is a Watch Adapter?
A watch adapter is a small stainless steel piece that bridges the gap between your watch’s lug width and the strap width you want to wear.
Most Casio vintage and digital watches have an 18mm lug width, which is the distance between the two metal horns where your strap attaches. Most premium aftermarket straps are 20mm or 22mm. Without an adapter, those straps simply will not fit.
With an adapter, they fit perfectly. The transition from case to strap looks clean and intentional, like the watch was made for it.
Adapters come in brushed silver, matte black, and gold tone, so there is a finish to match every Casio case color.
How Easy Is Installation?
Easier than you expect.
Every adapter set comes with the spring bars you need. Remove your watch’s original spring bars, set the adapter between the lugs, and secure it with the included spring bars. Then attach your new strap to the adapter. A basic spring bar tool makes the job quick and clean, and nothing about your watch is permanently changed. You can always switch back to the original strap.

18mm to 20mm Adapters
Who needs these: Anyone with a Casio F91W, A168W, A158W, AE-1200WH Royale, or another 18mm lug Casio who wants to wear a 20mm strap.
The 20mm strap market is much bigger than 18mm. You get more leather options, more NATO styles, and more Milanese mesh colors, all unlocked by a single $15.99 adapter set.
Our 18mm to 20mm stainless steel adapters fit the F91W, A168W, A158W, AE-1200WH and other 18mm lug models, in silver, black and gold.
Recommended straps: Our black Milanese mesh band pairs beautifully with the F91W and A168W. The magnetic clasp adjusts to any wrist with no tools.
For a warmer, more refined look, our caramel brown leather strap for the AE-1200WH Royale works perfectly with 20mm adapters and gives the Royale a vintage field watch feel the Casio community loves.
18mm to 22mm Adapters
Who needs these: Anyone who wants maximum strap width on an 18mm lug Casio.
The AE-1200WH Royale has a 42mm wide case, and an 18mm strap looks narrow against it. A 22mm strap fills that width and gives the watch a balanced, premium look that feels deliberate rather than stock.
The 22mm category is also the largest in the aftermarket strap world, with more NATO colors, leather styles, and Milanese mesh options than any other width. These adapters open all of it up.
Our 18mm to 22mm stainless steel adapters fit the F91W, A168W, A158W, AE-1200WH and other 18mm lug Casio models.
Recommended straps: A 22mm NATO or leather strap on the AE-1200WH Royale is one of the most popular combinations in the Casio community. The extra width fills out the large Royale case and suits the watch’s bold, utilitarian personality.

20mm to 22mm Adapters
Who needs these: Owners of 20mm lug Casios like the CA-53W calculator watch or the MTP-M305 moon phase who want a bolder, wider strap.
Going from 20mm to 22mm gives your watch more presence on the wrist and opens up the biggest strap category there is. Wide NATOs, chunky leather, and heavier Milanese mesh all become options.
Our 20mm to 22mm stainless steel adapters come in silver, black and gold to match your case.
22mm to 20mm Adapters
Who needs these: Owners of the Casio Duro MDV-106, MDV-107, Mud Master GSG-100, and other 22mm lug Casio sport models who want a sleeker 20mm strap.
This direction is less common but just as useful. The 20mm market has refined options the 22mm market sometimes lacks: fine Milanese mesh, slim leather dress straps, and minimalist NATO styles that look sharp on a large sport case.
Our 22mm to 20mm stainless steel adapters fit the Duro MDV-106, MDV-107, and other 22mm lug Casio models, in silver, black and gold.
Recommended straps: The Casio Duro on a 20mm black Milanese mesh is a stunning combination that almost nobody is wearing yet. The fine mesh against the Duro’s bold dive case creates a sophisticated contrast that completely changes the watch.
Which Adapter Do I Need?
Here is a quick guide:
F91W, A168W, A158W, A159W, B640W or other vintage series: You have an 18mm lug. Choose 18mm to 20mm for a balanced upgrade, or 18mm to 22mm for maximum strap width.
AE-1200WH Royale: You have an 18mm lug and a large case. We recommend 18mm to 22mm for the best proportions.
CA-53W, MTP-M305 or other 20mm lug model: Choose 20mm to 22mm for a wider, bolder strap.
Duro MDV-106, MDV-107 or Mud Master GSG-100: You have a 22mm lug. Choose 22mm to 20mm to unlock the 20mm strap market.
